Rocamadour is a major site in Midi-Pyrénées. A historical christian town, it is situated on the road to Compostelle. The Religious Art Museum shows a large collection of gold work and silverware (XIIth, XIIIth et XIVth centuries), sculptures and religious paintings.

Bonaguil Castle

 

 

Caix Castle

This castle belongs to the queen of Denmark, whose husband was born in Albas.

 

Ossip Zadkine Museum

Les Arques, a small village situated between the Causses and the Bouriane. Museum of the sculptor Ossip Zadkine, artistic centre for sculpture and modern art.

 

Jean Lurçat Museum

Saint-Céré. This museum presents Jean Lurçat's paintings, ceramics, céramiques, drawings and furniture, as well as some of his best tapestries.

 

Champollion Museum

Figeac. The Champollion Museum is situated in the house where Jean-François Champollion was born. The visit is a trip into antic history.

Gastronomy

In the Lot region, gastronomy is an essential part of culture. During your stay in Cahors, you have to taste foie gras et visit the wine-cellars !

 

Wine

Cahors wine is amoung the best French vineyards. In our region, over 400 winegrowers will welcome you in their cellars : there you will taste their best wines, in reasonable quantity of course...

 

Wine Museum

In Cahors, the Wine Museum shows a collection of traditional tools used for wine making. This museum is also a place of information where you can learn the art of tasting wine.

Specialties

Geese and ducks, truffles, Quercy farm-raised lamb, Rocamadour goat cheese, nuts, melons, and other regional specialties can be found in most restaurants of the region.

Pech Merle Cave

In Cabrerets, near Figeac. The richest cave in France after Lascaux, concerning paléolithic paintings. The Prehistory Museum next door gives information about the men who made these paintings : their everyday life, their art and their techniques.

Randonnée
